Branding Toolkit

BRAND IS MORE than a set of rules about fonts, colors, and logos. It’s a thought process that drives interaction with everyone we come in contact with each day at Ohio Wesleyan.

Our institution’s brand is the total experience we create for our students, faculty, parents, alumni and our community. From the way we interact with our students to answering the phones, to recruiting new students, our brand is based on everything our institution touches.

The following information will provide guidelines for making it work. Remember, guidelines are flexible. So use your best judgment as you help bring the Ohio Wesleyan University brand to life.

Logo Usage

The OWU logo is the most recognizable symbol of our brand and is possibly the most important element in unifying the OWU brand. It should be viewed as a sacred mark and treated with respect.

We have one logotype, which we can use in two ways: Locked up or stretched. The stacked version always includes the line to the right of the type.

The primary logo is stacked. The stretched logo should be used only when space does not allow for stacking.

The stacked logo should always be anchored to the right or left edge. It should never float freely in space.

It can be various combination of white on black, black on white, red on white, or white on red, but NEVER red on black or black on red.

There will be times when a sub-brand needs to live with the Ohio Wesleyan logo. Whenever possible, use a type-driven logo to indicate a sub-brand. Above you can see how to create the lock-up. This lock-up should always be anchored to the left or right edge. It should never float in the middle of a piece.

Front   Back

In the rare instance when you must use an actual mark for a sub-brand, place the Ohio Wesleyan logo on the front of the piece and the sub-brand’s mark on the back. The subbrand’s mark should always be equal to or smaller than the size of the Ohio Wesleyan logo.
